SUBTITLING SERVICES

Imágenes offers subtitling services in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish using dedicated software that allows the creation of high-quality subtitles for film, video and DVD.

Since 2000, Imágenes has produced the English subtitles for several recent award-winning Uruguayan films, including 25 Watts (Stoll-Rebella), Aparte (Mario Handler), A Pesar de Treblinka (Gerardo Stawsky), Mala Racha (Daniela Speranza), Nico y Parker (Fernández-Nieto), Perro Perdido (Arauco Hernández) and La cumparsita (Rosario Infantozzi).

We also did the French subtitles for the documentaries Searching for Debra Winger, directed by Rosanna Arquette, Aparte, by Mario Handler; and Raúl Barboza, el sentimiento de abrazar, by Argentinean director Silvia Di Florio.

The linguistic aspect of the job is managed by a group of translators based in Uruguay, Brazil and the United States, coordinated by Danilo Iglesias. Tato Ariosa is in charge of French subtitles. The translation is handled with special care so that it conveys the subtleties of dialogue in film.

The actual insertion of the subtitles on the screen is done at Imágenes, delivering highly legible texts, inserted in such a way that they follow the pace of the film and help audiences enjoy it.

Danilo Iglesias studied filmmaking at The Boston Film & Video Foundation and The New School for Social Research. He later specialized in subtitling and dubbing at the City University of London.

He also translates screenplays and film projects. This past year alone he translated the scripts and project presentations for 25 Watts (Stoll–Rebella), La Perrera (Manolo Nieto), Fortunato (Danilo Iglesias), Fuera de sí (Arauco Hernández), Vaivenes (Cristina Bayarres), Whisky (Stoll–Rebella) and La Usina (Carlos Morelli).
